Fox News contributor Lawrence Jones got all dressed up to cover “The Border War” and Twitter blazed him for it.
Dude. Why are you wearing a bulletproof vest. YOU ARE NOT IN A WAR ZONE. Here I am reporting from the border recently WITHOUT a bulletproof vest, but WITH a coat of fabulous hairspray! pic.twitter.com/ftmBzjTBVT

In fact it’s not even really a bullet proof vest and many others are laughing about it.
That’s a cheap tactical backpack with a MOLLE attachment system (cosplay types refer to stuff like that as “EDC”, for “every day carry”).

That’s a cheap backpack that you’re wearing backwards.
You’re wearing a backpack with the “cool part” facing camera.
On purpose.
Shit I lived there for 20 years and I was armed with only flip flops and great hair.

Those vests work better when the plates are in them.

Might weigh a few pounds but that’s what actually stops the bullets.

Take off the vest. You’re doing the news, not a high school play Stephen Miller wrote.

You can put your phone and like a travel pack of Kleenex in that thing that’s adorable
— Farmer Jones (@thefarmerjones) April 4, 2019
Later he tried to claim CBP required the vest for a ride along.
Bullshit.
— Trevor S. Valle (@tattoosandbones) April 4, 2019
Multiple other reporters have stated that nobody has worn those for “ride alongs”.
No room for a plate, no side securing panels, and it’s not CBPs vest from either US Armor or ArmorExpress.
You’re a propaganda artist, wearing a tacticool fishing vest.

Thoughts
This is typical of the “scare tactics” from Fox News of late. They keep pushing that that border is a war zone, which is partially why the president keeps pretending the same.
Propaganda is dangerous, but it you’re going to do it, at least make an effort to look the part. If you don’t know what you’re doing, pretending just makes you look silly.
