Did you know that from 1911-1967, Americans could bank at their local post office?— Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) May 11, 2019
At one point our postal banks serviced 4 million customers.
We must ensure all Americans can access basic financial services by allowing every post office to offer basic banking services again.
Did you know that in the 90’s most Americans rented movies on VHS tapes at Blockbuster? Every American should have access to a Blockbuster Video so that they can watch movies.— Rob Davenport (@RobDavenport86) May 11, 2019

That was before ATM/debit cards, prepaid cash cards, the internet, online banking, and cash apps. Many supermarkets also have banks. Hours at post offices, especially small ones, are even worse than at bank branches. This is silly.— TickTock2019 (@BJacksonLTH) May 11, 2019

Sadly, what most people fail to recognize is that this effectively begins the nationalization of the banking industry. One step closer to socialism. Like Venezuela.
Nationalising the banks? No thanks. The National Debt is $22 Trillion. Do you really want the Federal Government to handle your money?
Senator Bernie Sanders is a relic of a past era. People bank instantly on their phones, tablets, and computers. Phones can even handle deposits.
Branch locations are only needed for special services like loans. ATM’s are everywhere for those who need cash once in a while, but even then you can get cash back on any purchase at any store so even those are obsolete.
There is probably a really good reason that Post Offices don’t offer banking services anymore and it’s most likely a mix of technology, efficiency, and the free market. There is no need to reinvent the wheel here.
