Ex Mayor of New York City, and multi billionaire, Michael Bloomberg was doing an interview with Margaret Hoover this weekend on PBS’ Firing Line.

Margret asked him how to get China, India, and other countries to be good partners in the war on climate change. His response was baffling.

“The communist party wants to stay in power in China, and they listen to the public. when the public says I can’t breathe the air…Xi Jinping is not a dictator. He has to satisfy his constituents, or he’s not going to survive.”

As the BBC reported last year, the communist party amended the constitution and removed term limits from the role of President. This has escalated Xi Jinping to the same status as Mao Zedong; giving him the power to rule for life.

Bytes

Chinese dissidents often refer to Xi Jinping as Winnie the Pooh, because he resembles the stout goofy character. The Chinese government even went so far as to ban Winnie the Pooh from Chinese social media for making the comparison.

Thoughts

This is galactic level willful ignorance right here.

Xi, who nominated himself ruler for life, is somehow held accountable by his constituents? Really? How exactly does that work? You think they are going to overthrow the government, with rocks and sticks?

Look what’s going on in Hong Kong right now? If that’s listening to constituents I’d hate to see what dissension looks like.
