Libertarians, constitutional conservatives, and classical liberals believe in protecting whistleblowers to expose government corruption. Trump Republicans believe in exposing whistleblowers to protect government corruption.— Justin Amash (@justinamash) November 5, 2019
AKSHUALLY the Constitution specifically provides for the right of the accused to meet his accuser. Whistleblower protection has never — could never — mean that accusations are accepted without question. He of course must testify. To say otherwise is silly.— Mollie (@MZHemingway) November 5, 2019
I’m so old, I remember when you also wanted to “hear from the whistleblower” and this didn’t mean you were violating the Constitution. (I am six weeks old.) https://t.co/D5mPH77dZm— Mollie (@MZHemingway) November 5, 2019
The congressmen clarified his position.
Yeah, hear from the whistleblower through the complaint, which the White House had not released at the time.— Justin Amash (@justinamash) November 5, 2019
The goal posts start moving.
LOL. You said Congress needed to “hear from the whistleblower.” Your words. You for some reason changed your tune after it was revealed he secretly met with Team Schiff and then lied about it to the ICIG.— Mollie (@MZHemingway) November 5, 2019
The tweet was specifically about needing access to the whistleblower complaint. You can spin the phrase “hear from the whistleblower” however you’d like. Spinning for Trump is basically all you have at this point.— Justin Amash (@justinamash) November 5, 2019
That had to hurt!
The move to ad hominem is unnecessary. In any case, congressmen should know the difference between whistleblower protection and anonymity. And people who claim libertarianism and Constitutionalism should know more of the rights of the accused.— Mollie (@MZHemingway) November 5, 2019
Whistleblowers are protected through anonymity. There may be a later stage where due process for the accused means confronting the whistleblower directly. That would be at trial (though it specifically applies to criminal prosecution). That’s how our constitutional system works.— Justin Amash (@justinamash) November 5, 2019
Mollie: I witness a robbery. I call the police. They investigate. They find corroborating witnesses. They arrest the robber. I am not necessarily needed for the trial. Nor does the robber have “a right” to know who I am. Trump’s accuser isn’t the whistleblower. *It’s Congress*— Caleb Garling (@CalebGarling) November 5, 2019
Think ADT goes to court for every burglary they report that result in arrest and trial!— Moonrise (@kcuhc1953) November 5, 2019
It’s laughable at how smart Mollie thought she was in this interaction. Amash was very clearly talking about the complaint, but Mollie is so blinded by her Trumpism that she can’t even understand that basic fact in a tweet.— kj kingsovler (@jksolver) November 5, 2019
The goalposts were last sighted in Vladivostok.— Gigster (@dr_gigster) November 5, 2019
Wow Mollie is really really bad at this.— Tom Childs -IAmTheWhistleblower (@TC02472) November 5, 2019
Mollie is a “journalist” so corrupt, she is literally takes money-[And who funds the Federalist?] to lie the in the faces of the faces of the American public, telling us to “reject the evidence of our eyes and ears.”— Naegleria: The GOP is as corrupt as Trump. (@fowerli) November 5, 2019
Molly is being disingenuous by deliberately conflating hearing from the whistleblower and blowing the whistleblower’s cover. Those who know the identity are trusted to conceal it. Molly’s only true goal is to blow the whistle blowers cover. She’s not interested in any content.— David Floren (@TheDavidFloren) November 5, 2019
Trump Republicans actually have a firm commitment to principle. That principle being that Donald Trump is above the law, and that any constitutional principle, law, or regulation must be twisted in his service.— SOTS Fla (@dshnapper) November 5, 2019
Hey, she got her mental age right! Not willing to give her a star or at least a Grimace sticker for that?— Steven “Human Scum” Huyck (@steven_huyck) November 5, 2019
It’s sad that you have to respond to people like this. But thanks for getting the truth out there and keeping the facts in order.— Vinny Caito (@vincecaito) November 5, 2019
Keep doing what you’re doing Justin. It’s appreciated. You’re the last elected conservative in national office with principles, honor and integrity and history will remember you as such.— American Times Film (@ExportedFromMI) November 5, 2019
It’s worth noting that Rep. Justin Amash recently left the Republican party and officially became and Independent. It’s what real conservatives do. Country over party always.
Mollie and all the other Trump supporters have absolutely no standing to defend any of this. Trump is guilty as sin and congress has him dead to rights. President Trump, himself, might actually be the biggest smoking gun in the whole case.
All the Republicans can do really is try to attack the process; seemingly because they are not ready to jump ship and give up the perks of being a famous trumphumper; hordes of idiots throwing money at you because you’re lying them everyday. In fact these lies have built up such a huge cult following around Trump that any dissention from the narrative is a political death sentence regardless of the facts or logic involved.
